Note:
There was a recent "sarcasm" thread posted about concept classes in a sad attempt to squelch the inspired moment in the suggestions forum that is currently taking place.

If you had the displeasure of seeing this thread, ignore it, we bought the game like everyone else, we have every right to try and improve it and make it more fun for us.

I wish you all luck in your continued creativity.

Yes, as in his first posts, the opening topic post, Ken asks that people PM him links to their Concept Classes rather then posting them here.

Ok...

But, PM means nothing, unless you know what is intended to mean with it (and "to Private Message" is not a verb).

Thank you, anyway, I think I have understood you.

Look at all the fun :-P.

Just a quick message to those who squish on concept profession creators (A.K.A. Kai Nui): how do you think ArenaNet's new professions come about? Someone sits down, ponders to themself "what would be cool and playable and fun?", has an idea, and gets to work. Also notice it takes a year to develop these games now. I'm certain that if I spent a year on my Pit Fighter, it would be as close to balanced and playable as it could be without direct playtesting. Most of us are just throwing out ideas and hoping Anet sits up and takes notice, if not of the class itself, of at least some of the more interesting attributes/skills inside that class.

This is Game Suggestions and Ideas forum, yes? So dig the dead animal out yer can and let us have some fun with our suggestions and ideas, eh man? :-P

instead of making new professions, give the primary/secondary choises new names or make it optional. Like making a W/N gets the new name Death Knight, gaining 1 more attribute, like Death Blows, to this one belongs vampiric touch and all those other necro touch skill, and add a few more, like adrenaline skills: rotting *weapon* *attack type* and additionaly own armor types

while a N/W becomes something else and gets another type of attribute and other skills to that attribute

W/E = Battle Mage
R/E = Druid
Me/R = Shapeshifter
A/W = Samurai
W/M = Paladin
M/E = Priest
Rt/E = Summoner
to name a few

heck, why not put the male and female rolls into play too, Call a Female N/Me a Banshee but don't go to far there, a Male N/Me would get the same attribute and skills as the Banshee, only the name is different.

And what happens when you switch up professions, eh? Besides, this sort of thing would take a truckload more work than simply adding new professions without giving any real benefit. Name shift is an intriguing idea, but ye could implement that in yer own head without having to have the game do it.

And please people, stop harping on guys creatinc concept classes. Just because you're jealous of our abilities...XP. Kidding, kidding, but still. Quit complaining, we aren't hurting anybody.

hm... u get the new name, and somewhere it says *formerly a *class**

hmm... maybe it's a little much anyway, but it would be fun

and about the implement in own head might not be so bad either, if only ereryone could start using it then the devs wouldn't have to worry about it untill everyone wants it

keep up the good work with new proffs

Of course this would require you to actually have art, which means you have to have had put some decent effort into it instead of just thinking that something was cool and to put it in, then realizing 10 seconds later than you can teleport inside the guild by using consume corpse on the NPCs.
Of course they are overpowered, if they are underpowered, they will generate no interest and do you honestly think that any one(even anet) could get a perfect character their first time around? If you do then you shouldn't even be posting. This board is to generate ideas for anet to build off of, not put directly into the game.

The same thing would happen when you switch professions now...you lose your old skills and gain the new ones and your character description updates. There would not be very much more coding in the sense that it would basically just be an addon or modification to existing code. I don't like the idea, however, of making the males and females have different names. As the amount of character classes grows, so will the amount of names to memorize. There is no sense in needlessly doubling the amount to memorize. And maybe for those who don't like the idea, there could be an option on the options menu to turn off the naming.

-Witches / Warlocks (demon binding, hexing)
-Illusionists (shadowcasting, misdirection)

-Pirates!!! (arrrrr....)

Until we have at least that many, it just won't feel complete, right?

(In all seriousness, though, I'm for adding skills or attributes instead of whole classes. Even the ritualist feels like its stepping on the toes of one or two of the existing classes.)
